This charity is trustworthy, and the brothers and sisters running it know the burden of responsibility they carry with receiving your trust & donations.
Many of the these students are orphans as well and we have heard time and time again the rewards for looking after an orphan!
Ibn Al-Qayyim has a profoundly powerful statement in his book Al-Fawaa’id, referring to negative and sinful thoughts. He said:
“You should repulse a thought.
If you do not do so, it will develop into a desire. You should therefore wage war against it.
If you do not do so, it will become a resolution and firm intention. If you do not repulse this, it will develop into a deed.
If you do not make up for it by doing the opposite thereof [the opposite of that evil deed], it will become a habit. It will then be very difficult for you to give it up.”
May Allah help us, Ameen!

It was said to Ali ibn alHussein (May Allah be pleased with him): “You are from the most diligent of people, however we never see you eat with you mother!”
He responded by saying: “(The reason why I do not eat with my mother is because) I fear that my hand may reach out and eat something that her eye fell upon before mine (which she desried to eat); and I end up disrespecting her (because of that).”
Subahaanallah- this paragraph has made me speechless.
May Allah bless our parents, forgive us and make us a people that always remain the happiness of our parents hearts. Ameen.

Question: Is it permissible for me to start a whatsapp group for the purpose of encouraging other to read and memorise the Qur’an or would this be considered an innovation (bid’ah).
Answer:

Ps. I have ran minor edits (without changing the style) to the original informal message to ensure the meanings are understood by a wider audience.

~ Everyone’s rizq is fixed ~
A brother moved to Makkah many years ago. He was a high flying manager of major departmental stores in U.K., Malaysia and China. He had been brought in by Bin Dawood stores as a regional manager for the Makkah region. He was from England.
After living and working in Saudi for some time, he later narrated how he found it so strange, unique and uplifting in how business was done in Saudi. Here were the examples he gave:
1. In Makkah, next to a major Bin Dawood superstore, a rival new company were entering the kingdom and decided to open a mega store right next to Bin Dawood, within metres. The brother was perturbed, “Why can’t they open just somewhere else.”
In the Tafseer of Imam alBaghawi (may Allah have mercy upon him); he mentions that Imam Saeed bin alMusayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) once said:
“Indeed I pray, and whilst praying, I remember my child, and (as a result) my prayer is prolonged.”
Subhanallah, what an amazing insight from the life of a senior scholar from the 2nd generation of Islam!
We learn from this the importance of supplication for our children both during the prayer (salaah) and during our supplications (dua).
The prayer of a parent for the success of a child is powerful. It is a sign that the parent is pleased with the child as well, and a parent’s happiness for a child is a means of Allah’s happiness over the child.
May Allah forgive us for our weaknesses towards our parents, make our parents pleased with us and grant us children whom will always be the pleasure of our eyes. Ameen.

Sajid Umar
