About your sincerity…

February 6, 2019 by Sajid Umar Leave a Comment

Don’t do things to be famous, rather do things that bring about diligent value to your life and the lives of others around you.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah loves the servant who is pious, independent (of others) and hidden (from the people).”

Reported by Imam Muslim from the hadeeth of Aamir bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him).

Handling rebellious teens

February 6, 2019 by Sajid Umar Leave a Comment

Assalamualaikum everyone. I came across this beneficial message regarding parenting.

I have some tweaks to it and many additions, but all in all, it is beneficial and perhaps I will put out something more detailed in the future, inShaAllah.

The message is listed below.
….

📌I often get asked for advice about how to parent rebellious teenagers by struggling parents. I’m usually like, “please let me know when you find out.”

So what I’m about to share is from the deepest part of humility. It’s hard as hell. But here are a few thoughts on the matter, things that have helped me and that I’ve observed in the lives of others.

1. Know this: your kids are separate human beings, not a reflection of you. They are not trophies. They cannot be extensions of your ambitions, unfulfilled dreams or to make up for what you failed to achieve. They don’t exist to be your fulfillment. They are servants of God. Allow them their individual dreams, personalities, goals.

It is amazing how misguidance manages to inspire people to dig deep, and when the call is made to the people of guidance to step up; they keep their hands far away from their pockets, with their hearts on that next vacation…

Not judging, as there is a definately a lot of goodness around, but… Just saying…

An answer to your questions

February 6, 2019 by Sajid Umar Leave a Comment

Assalamualaikum everyone.

Many of you write in to me regarding intellectual issues related to Muslims living in the West and the the onslaught of attacks against Islam’s perspective on things, and the doubts caused on impressionable Muslims as a result.

I’ve just come across a dream opportunity with the answers you seek.

I have not looked at the details of the program yet; however it comes highly recommended from some of the best students of knowledge whom I trust.

Alasna Institute is a specialized training institute that educates Muslims on how to address doubts and how to gain real intellectual confidence and conviction in Islam.

Specifically, the Institute trains Muslims with exactly the information and skills they need to be empowered in their faith and dawah in the face of ideologies that attack Islam.

Actions speak louder

February 6, 2019 by Sajid Umar Leave a Comment

These 3 images prove that it isn’t necessary to verbally command action, for it is in your actions, that those under your care will be lead!
Act now, for no matter who you are; there are those waiting for you to lead!

Subhanallah, look at how the natural pure nature of this young child causes her to ask a valid question. Sadly she received a deceptive answer, that clearly showed the father in a state of disbelief regarding what he told her 😔.

I remembered the following narrations as a result:

Wisdom from Al-Hasan al-Basri رحمه الله

February 6, 2019 by Sajid Umar Leave a Comment

Al-Hasan al-Basri رحمه الله said,

‘Indeed those who came before you saw the Qur’an as personal letters from their Lord. So they would ponder over it by night and yearn for it by day.’

7 questions from Musa (a.s)

February 6, 2019 by Sajid Umar Leave a Comment

On the authority of Abu Huraira, on the authority of the Messenger of Allaah [ﷺ] who said:

❝Musa asked his Lord about six characteristics, which he thought were only and purely for him alone and he did not like the seventh one.

1- He asked: ‘O my Lord! Which of your slaves are the most pious? He answered: He who/the one who remembers Allaah and does not forget.

2- He asked: ‘Which of your slaves are the most guided? He answered: the one who follows the guidance.

3- He asked: Which of your slaves is the best in judgement? He answered: the one who judges for the people just as he judges for his own self.

4- He asked: Which of your slaves is the most knowledgeable? He answered: The one who is not satisfied and always has a thirst for knowledge, he adds the knowledge of the people to his knowledge.

Powerful Reminder

A powerful video, courtesy of Kitchen Oslo. You may need to watch it a couple of times to understand it. When you do, you will feel the power of the lesson and feel the emotion. The original sound track of the video was replaced to make it more suitable for Muslim viewing ☺️.

What do you wish for your children

February 6, 2019 by Sajid Umar Leave a Comment

I dream of children growing up to be great men and women, not worthless beings.

Which trajectory are you or your children upon?

Ponder over this…

In one of the houses of Madinah, ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allaah be pleased with him, was sitting with a group of his companions. He asked them: “Make a wish”, one of them said, “I wish to have as much gold as would fill this whole house, so that I could spend it in Allah’s way”; then again ‘Umar asked: “Make a wish”, another man said, “I wished that this house was full of jewels and pearls so that I could spend it all in Allah’s way and charity for the sake of Allaah”; ‘Umar asked for the third time: “Make a wish”, his companions said: “We don’t know what to say, O leader of the believers”; Thereupon ‘Umar said, “I wish that this house was full of men like Abu ‘Ubaydah Ibn Al-Jarraah, Mu’aadh bin Jabal and Saalim who works for Abu Hudhayfah, in order to use them to spread the word of Allaah”

May Allah shower His mercy on Abu Hafs, Umar bin alKhattaab (may Allah be pleased with him), for he knew for greatness to be built! You need great hearts and minds; before money and anything else.

The legacies of tauheed and piety and true progress were built on backs of true men and women.

I beg you NOT to raise your children upon immersion in football, TV serials, and wasting time…You owe it to yourself and your children to make them individuals of responsibility and discipline.

May Allah bless us to raise leaders, and not children. Ameen.

Your brother,
Sajid Umar
