Assalamualaikum everyone…
An American humorist once wrote: “A pinch of probably, is worth a pound of perhaps.”
It is a very telling statement and one that requires much deliberation!
In terms of my contemplations; I understand from his statement that we as a people don’t live in a world of perhapses, but of probabilities. We live is a world of calculated risk, rather than one of complete uncertainty.
Risk is a part of every sphere of life and in the words of Winston Churchill, without it, the drama of life would be destroyed!
If this is true about risk; then risk management can never be seperated from success.
My dear brothers & sisters…
We are and will always be a product of our decisions & every decision we make will either create positive outcomes, or negative consequences.
The quantum weight of this reality is further emphasised when we ponder over our realities as communal beings. The progress of one us, in some way or form constitutes all our progress. In retrospect; the failure of one us, in some way or form constitutes all our failure.
If you have been tested by Allah to have a sphere of influence; think long and hard, make shura & pray istikhara before you take or make decisions.
Indeed Allah revealed to us the Qur’an, sent us the final Messenger & blessed us with the faculty of understanding. As the ummah of guidance and propogation; we only have room for calculated decisions and absolutely no room for recklessness.
If you feel the stress of responsibility from the little I’ve shared thus far; contemplate another idiosyncratic reality! A reality which states that we will each have to stand in front of Allah on a day which spans 50 000 years, and answer for our decisions made on earth. Allahul musta’aan.
May Allah forgive our past, inspire our futures, guide our decisions & ease our standing in front of Him on the day of Qiyaamah. Ameen.
Your brother,
Sajid Umar
