Assalamualaikum everyone.
I pray you are well. May Allah reward you all for your reading and participation in relation to the earlier post about ‘too much movement but very little progress. ‘
For those who requested actual case studies for further clarity; I will attempt to put together an article titled (Transformers) – may Allah bless my time to do so! Ameen.
This article will inShaAllah focus on the aspect of inspirational knowledge acquisition vs trasnformative knowledge aquisition, especially in relation to current learning trends which has a lot of movement, but sadly- through observation, inadequate transformation.
You know; when we were younger, most of us were introduced in school to the timeless classic Alice’s adventures in wonderland, by Charles Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carrol.
Whilst many of us know the famous story; we seem to have failed to understand a core lesson planted within the drama of the author’s writing. A lesson about the concept of progress and the fact that sometimes, movement does not actually equal progress.
For those who are still scratching their heads thinking about the scene in reference; ponder over the Red Queen commanding Alice to run faster and faster, and even though she tried and tried and was actually out of breath; she was actually in the same spot she was in before she actually started moving!
How does this relate to the current post?
Well, In terms of the trend of seeking knowledge by the masses today; we literally see a norm of people bouncing from one internet reminder to the next, one mass attended conference to the next, one social media post to the next…
A lot of movement no doubt! A lot of noise without question! But what about the progress metric? How well is this meter doing? Is this trend actually causing you to develop, or are you actually breathless from trying to keep up, but sadly find yourself exactly at the same place as you were when you started?
The English phrase “Work Smarter, not Harder’ may come to mind, but I say: “Work smarter & Harder”.
InShaAllah I have placed enough here to instigate some introspection on your part.
More in the upcoming ‘Transformers’ piece inShaAllah.
Your brother,
Sajid Umar
