Interview: Twins of Faith Sydney

June 29, 2015 by Sajid Umar Leave a Comment

Q: What are your favourite hobbies?
A: Hmm. I don’t think I have a hobby. Everything I do I try and ensure has a high impact to my vision. Thus I consider everything I do as something core. I guess if you really wanted specifics and would push me for an answer; I would say everything I do is my hobby 😊

Q: What are your favourite…things…to study?
A: I love studying all the Islamic sciences especially matters related directly to the Qur’an or its direct sciences.
I also consider a favorite the process of pondering over the Seerah and find parallels with the 21st century we are in.

Q: Share the kheir, what is your favourite du’aa?
A: The dua that was taught to Aisha Ra should she witness the night of power. There are so many dimensions to it that give you hope and keep you grounded as well.

Q: What is your favourite Surah?
A:It depends. Do you mean in terms of recitation? Pondering? In any case I genuinely find this a hard question to answer. The Entire Qur’an is Amazing given its miraculous nature.
If you were to push me again I would say Surah Yusuf as a Surah to ponder over. It has lessons for those who just ask. And it is special for so many reasons that are just too many to list here now. Perhaps we can run an interview just on that.

Q: Your favourite moment shared between the Prophet ﷺ and his daughter, Fatima (RA)?
A: His standing up for her when she visited him and the way he honoured her throughout his life. Even by informing her she would be the first from his family to reach him in the hereafter after he passed away.

Q: Your favourite moment in the Madinan seerah that left you in awe of the Prophet ﷺ
A: Hmm. These type of questions for these types of topics are really ones I don’t favour! There are just too many and they mean so much for just too many reasons.
Again if you push me and off the top of my head I would say,
His forgiveness of the Quraysh after Makkah came into the control of the Muslims and his sermon during the farewell hajj. Again I will reiterate, there are so many.

Q: Your favourite moment in the Madinan seerah that left you feeling inspired for change?

A: No doubt the battle of Badr. Another stand out is When the Muslims dug the trench and the messenger saw struck the great Boulder that was in the way. As he did lights began to eminate and he announced the takbeer announcing that Rome and Persia etc would enter the control of the Muslims. The entire setting and the impact and timing of the announcement is truly inspirational.

Q: From Makkah, To Madinah- what is a defining moment in the seerah for you?

A: I would say in a nutshell of course
The Islam of Hamza
The Islam of Umar
The sending of Mus’ab bin umayr to Madeenah as a teacher and propogator.
Badr
The treaty of hudayniyah

These for me (when put on the spot) were pivotal in terms of Islam becoming established in the land In a way like never before.

And Allah knows best.
