In the Tafseer of Imam alBaghawi (may Allah have mercy upon him); he mentions that Imam Saeed bin alMusayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) once said:
“Indeed I pray, and whilst praying, I remember my child, and (as a result) my prayer is prolonged.”
Subhanallah, what an amazing insight from the life of a senior scholar from the 2nd generation of Islam!
We learn from this the importance of supplication for our children both during the prayer (salaah) and during our supplications (dua).
The prayer of a parent for the success of a child is powerful. It is a sign that the parent is pleased with the child as well, and a parent’s happiness for a child is a means of Allah’s happiness over the child.
May Allah forgive us for our weaknesses towards our parents, make our parents pleased with us and grant us children whom will always be the pleasure of our eyes. Ameen.
Your brother,
Sajid Umar
