A Night with the People of the Qurʾān
Yesterday, I had the immense honour of attending the Qurʾān Completion Ceremony at East London Masjid, a truly moving event that celebrated a remarkable programme dedicated to bringing hearts closer to the Book of Allah.
Honouring a Journey Through the Book of Allah
This unique initiative, led by Sheikh Jamal Abdel Nasser, is designed to encourage participants to journey through the Qurʾān cover to cover, cultivating consistency, connection, and reflection.
Sheikh Jamal, a beautiful brother and an ambassador of the Qurʾān, continues to inspire many through his dedication and humility.
In the Presence of Giants: Sheikh ʿAbdul Rashīd Sūfī and the Imams of East London Masjid
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Sheikh ʿAbdul Rashīd Sūfī, one of the greatest Qurʾān reciters and teachers of our time, who travelled from abroad to attend and honour the graduates.
Being in the same gathering as such distinguished figures, the Imams of East London Masjid, Sheikh Jamal Abdel Nasser, and Sheikh ʿAbdul Rashīd Sūfī, was deeply humbling.
A Gathering That Touched the Soul
For me, it was more than an invitation, it was an honour placed by Allah to be among those I consider from the family of the Qurʾān. The atmosphere, the recitations, and the heartfelt reminders all touched my soul profoundly.
It was a reminder of the beauty, power, and mercy of Allah’s words, reigniting my own aspiration to draw even closer to the Qurʾān.
Moments to Cherish, Memories to Treasure
There were moments from this event, captured in photos and in memory, that I will treasure for a lifetime.
And I sincerely ask Allah, as He placed me with the people of the Qurʾān in this gathering, to place me among them again on the Day of Qiyāmah.
Watch the Full Ceremony: A Night of Light and Recitation
I encourage everyone to watch the full programme, featuring incredible recitations from talented young boys, and also my short 10–15 minute presentation titled “The Qurʾān: The Book of Inspiration.”
May Allah Make Us from Ahl al-Qurʾān
May Allah make us all from Ahl al-Qurʾān, those who live by it, love it, and are honoured by it in this world and the next.
