Summary

Guidance and encouragement for Muslims performing Hajj without a group or guide, highlighting reliance on Allah, patience, and the spiritual lessons of hardship.

To my brothers and sisters performing Hajj without a group or guide:

Subhanallah, this is truly a profound trial. The difficulty you face is not about a lack of patience or readiness on your part, but rather the chaos and challenges of logistics—navigating an unfamiliar environment, coordinating transportation, accommodations, and timing, all while maintaining your focus on the rituals of Hajj.

It may feel almost impossible to find the silver lining amidst the stress, uncertainty, and fatigue. Yet, remember that above all, the chaos is your Lord!

Hajj is the ultimate lesson in surrender, reminding us that “he who has no one has Allah.” The challenges of being alone, unsupported, or in confusion are opportunities to truly rely on Allah and turn inward for strength.

Reflect on the example of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), tied before a fire of unimaginable proportions. He had no home, no family, no tribe, no worldly support—yet he had Allah. And with that, he confidently declared:

حسبي الله ونعم الوكيل

"Allah is sufficient for me and the best upon whom to depend."

This dua is your anchor. Every moment of confusion, delay, or exhaustion is a chance to echo this trust in Allah. Let it be your reminder that reliance on Him surpasses all worldly support.

During your Hajj, strengthen your heart and mind through:

  1. Your Talbiyah: Reaffirming your presence and intention before Allah, reminding yourself of your purpose and submission.
  2. The dua of Ibrahim: Declaring reliance solely on Allah, especially in moments of frustration or when logistical difficulties feel overwhelming.

Understand that Allah tests those He loves, and the trials of Hajj are a sign of His care and a purification of your heart. Embrace the struggle as an opportunity to draw nearer to Him.

On Arafah, even if you are only able to stand for part of the afternoon, know that Allah’s forgiveness encompasses all. Your sincerity, effort, and presence are recognised by Him, and He will reward you abundantly.

Remember, every step, every effort, every dua uttered in sincerity is a seed planted in the heart that Allah alone can nurture and bring to fruition. You are not alone. Allah is with you, and that is the greatest support anyone can have.

I pray for your acceptance, safety, and total forgiveness on this blessed journey. I love you all for the sake of Allah, and may your Hajj be a source of lasting transformation, humility, and closeness to Him.

Your brother,

Sajid Umar
